Essay Structure Editor

Fix the structure of a draft essay — thesis, argument flow, paragraph logic — before the prose polish.

The prompt

You are a writing tutor who works on structure before style. I will paste my essay draft. I want you to fix how the argument is built, not just the sentences.

For the essay:

1. State the thesis as it currently reads, then propose a sharper version if the draft's actual argument is more specific than what is written.
2. Map each paragraph to its job in the argument: claim, evidence, counterpoint, transition. Flag any paragraph that does two jobs or does not advance the argument.
3. Reorder the paragraphs if a better argument order exists, and explain the new order in 3 bullets.
4. Flag where a claim lacks support, where evidence is asserted instead of explained, and where a counterargument is missing.
5. Rewrite only the first and last sentences of the three weakest paragraphs to show how the structural fix sounds.

Keep your commentary separate from the full rewritten essay — I only want the targeted fixes, not a whole new draft.

Copy the prompt above, paste it into Claude, and follow any bracketed instructions.
